Pets in Pearls: An Animal Fashion Show Debuts October 7 in Washington, DC

Washington, DC -- From Rottweilers to rabbits and from felines to ferrets, "Pets in Pearls: An Animal Fashion Show" promises to be an exciting, educational, and indisputably entertaining event for the Washington pet lover.

A portion of the ticket sales will go to the Fairfax County Urban Search and Rescue Team.

Taking place at the elegant Loews L'Enfant Plaza hotel on Sunday, October 7 at 2 pm and emceed by WTOP's Kristi King, this animal fashion show is a tribute to the marvelous pets who brighten our lives. Come learn about the newest and greatest protective wear, leashes, and well yes, fashion for your pet. With over 40 models (all adopted or available for adoption) from 9 species, what's not to love?

Ever wondered why your dog takes you for walks at breakneck speed? Find out about training collars and leashes to best suit his temperament and breed. Aging pet? We are devoting a whole segment of the show to showing you medical and health aids for your best friend. And as a special feature, we are bringing you guests from the working world of pets, including members of the Beagle Brigade and Fidos for Freedom.

Of course, if you and your pet are fashion-conscious, then this is the event for you! Rhinestone-studded leashes, pearl necklaces for pets (of course!), raincoats in tropical designs, fleece lined jackets, and evening wear for those special occasions.

Exhibitors include Doolittles, Designz by Tina, the Washington Humane Society, the Doris Day Animal League, and a wide variety of animal welfare organizations including groups for for turtles, birds, rabbits, oh, and of course dogs.

So do your pet a favor -- come to Pets in Pearls and spend an afternoon learning how to pamper him or her just a little more than ever.

Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Order online at http://www.metropets.org/Pearls.

We regret that, due to insurance regulations, only participating pets and registered Service Animals may attend this function.
